TURKISH BREAD
traditional Turkish flatbread that you can make right at home. fluffy and so easy to make in less than 2 hours without kneading to make. Fresh out of the oven, this bread is fluffy and perfect!
TURKISH BREAD
Dough
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
Egg Wash - 1 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt
- 1 large egg
Toppings - 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon nigella seeds
- In a large bowl mix add water and sugar, Sprinkle the yeast on top and stir to combine. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Pour the dry ingredients over the wet. Using a spatula or your hands, mix the ingredients together. Cover and let it sit at room temperature for 45 minutes to rise.
- Preheat the oven to 400F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper .Gently release the air in the dough by turning it upside down in the bowl.
- Transfer it onto the baking sheet and spread it in the pan, wetting your fingers occasionally and pressing on the dough. Give it a round or oval shape.
- Wet your fingertips and make a circle on the dough . This will be the edge of the bread.
And then again with your fingertips make a diagonal pattern on it. press on the dough as much as you can when making the pattern. Let it sit for 25 min. - For the topping, whisk together the yogurt and egg well. Spread this mixture over the bread with a brush .
- Sprinkle seeds over it and bake until golden, for about 25 minutes. slice and enjoy.
