Stuffed Onions

These Stuffed Onions Loaded with flavor are at the top of my list for comfort food.We love them for their rich flavors and satisfying combinations. These tender Stuffed Onions are filled with a savory mixture of rice, and aromatic spices, then baked in a flavorful sauce. Perfectly caramelized and hearty, they’re a comforting dish ideal for family dinners or special occasions!

Stuffed Onions

  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon Pomegranate
    molasses
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 6 large yellow onions, might
    need more if they are too small

    The Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups water
  1. To a bowl, add the rinsed rice, spices, tomato paste, garlic,Pomegranate molasses,lemon juice,olive oil, tomatoes, and parsley. Mix well and set aside.
  2. cut each end off of the onion, place it flat side down and cut it down the middle starting from the centre making sure not to cut it in half.Repeat this step for each onion.
  3. fill a pot with water, place the onions inside and cook for 15 minutes from the boiling point.The layers should start to pull apart. Make sure you don’t boil them too much as they can break apart so keep an eye on them.
  4. When boiled, drain the water carefully and let the onions cool.Take each onion layer, add a tablespoon of filling to it and roll. Repeat this step until the layers are filled.Arrange the stuffed onions seam-side down tightly into a round dish and work on the sauce.
  5. Make the sauce by mixing the tomato paste with hot water,olive oil, salt and pepper. Pour over the stuffed onions and Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.Bake for 45 minutes.until the sauce is reduced and the onions are golden. The stuffed onions are ready once the onions are tender. enjoy
