Lamb Shank Recipe

Lamb Shank Recipe

  • 2 lamb shanks
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 4 large garlic cloves minced
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 3 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • pinch red chili flakes
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 28- ounce can peeled tomatoes
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.Pat the lamb shanks dry and season with salt,black pepper.
  2. In a large Dutch oven pot heat 2 tablespoon olive oil over medium high heat. Working in batches, brown the lamb shanks on all sides about 5 mins.
  3. add to pot onions, garlic, fresh thyme ,rosemary, sweet paprika ,chili flakes and the broth, tomatoes.
  4. Cover the pot and transfer to the 375 degrees heated oven. Cook in the oven for 2 hours. check periodically through cooking just in case you need to add a little more liquid. Serve the lamb shanks hot enjoy.
