Vanilla Cupcakes

These cupcakes are everything you could wish for: soft, moist, slightly dense. And their gentle vanilla flavor is perfectly balanced, without being too bland or too sweet. Frost these cupcakes with your favorite flavor of  buttercream for the perfect springtime dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour spooned and leveled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup salted butter melted and cooled
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • vanilla buttercream for decorating

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place 12 cupcake papers in a cupcake tin.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together butter, eggs, vanilla, and milk.
  4. Whisk wet ingredients into dry ingredients and then fold in sour cream. Divide batter among prepared cupcake papers, filling each no more than 2/3 full. If you have extra batter, either discard or grab a couple more cupcake papers.
  5. Bake in the center of preheated oven for 16-18 min, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Cool cupcakes completely before frosting enjoy .
