Hoagie Roll Recipe
This homemade hoagie roll one of my absolute favorite recipes. The best homemade hoagie rolls can be whipped up in just a few simple steps, and can be incorporated into so many different meals. This dough can also double for french bread!
Hoagie Roll Recipe
- 2 tablespoons dry yeast
- 1 tablespoons sugar
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 6 cups all purpose flour
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, Add yeast and sugar, warm water until foam develops. Stir in the salt, baking powder, vegetable oil and flour. Turn mixer on low and knead until dough comes together and no longer sticks to the sides.
- Cover bowl and let the dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Transfer dough to a clean, lightly floured surface and divide into eight equal pieces. Roll and form each piece into an approx. 8-inch roll shape.
- Spray two baking sheets with a non-stick cooking spray. Place rolls on sheets, approx 3-inches apart. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm area until doubled 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°.After dough has risen, cut a slash down the center of each with a very sharp knife.
- Bake in preheated oven for 30 min. Should be lightly browned Cool on baking rack before cutting. enjoy.
