Our homemade yeast rolls are just like the one’s Grandma used to make. Warm, tender dinner rolls topped with melted butter. Serve them as-is or with honey!

Ingredients

  • 4.5 Cups All-Purpose Flour, (up to five ((5)) cups if needed)
  • 1 1/2 Cups Milk, (warmed to 110-115 degrees F.)
  • 2 Tablespoons Rapid Rise Yeast
  • 1/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter, (melted, but not hot!!)
  • 2 Large Egg

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the 3 cups of flour, milk, yeast, sugar, salt, melted butter, and egg.
  2. Use a dough hook to mix the ingredients on low speed for 2 minutes until it begins to come together. Add additional flour ¼ to ½ cup at a time until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Increase the speed to medium, and continue to mix for an additional 5-6 minutes. If the dough is sticky to the touch or sticks to the bowl, continue to add flour a couple of tablespoons at a time until the the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Form the dough into a smooth ball, and transfer it to a large, lightly greased bowl. Cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and allow it double in size (about 30 minutes to an 1 hour depending on the room temperature).
  5. After the dough has doubled in size, punch it down to deflate it. Separate the dough into about 24 equal different pieces. If you have access to a kitchen scale, it’s best to weigh out the dough to ensure the pieces are the same size.
  6. Roll the pieces into balls, and place them into a greased 9 x 13 – inch baking dish or an equivalent sized baking sheet. Cover with a clean towel or piece of greased plastic wrap, and allow to double in size (about 30 minutes to 1 hour). Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Top with melted butter, and serve warm. Yeast rolls are best served in large plastic zip bags, and stay fresh for about 3 days enjoy .
