Homemade Dinner Rolls

These rich and buttery homemade dinner rolls with soft and tender crumbs will fill your house with unbelievably delicious aroma, an extra perk for sure.

Ingredients:

  • 10 tablespoons (140gr) unsalted butter, softened, divided
  • 4 cups (500gr) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 packet (about 1 ½ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups (300ml) tepid milk (any milk is fine, I use whole milk)
  • ¼ cup (60ml) vegetable, or canola oil
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Directions:

  1. To make the dough, cut 6 tablespoons of butter into small pieces. And melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter for later.
  2. In a large mixing bowl with paddle attachment, combine flour, sugar, yeast and salt.
  3. Add milk, vegetable oil and egg. Mix for about 1 minute.
  4. While the mixer is running on low, add butter one piece at a time. Increase the speed to medium and mix until dough is well combined.
  5. Replace the paddle attachment with dough hook, and knead for 6 minutes on medium speed. (If the dough is too dry, add water 1 tablespoon at a time until dough smooth and soft. Also, if the dough is too wet, add flour 1 tablespoon at a time.)
  6. Coat the dough with a little bit of vegetable oil and place it back in the bowl. Cover with damp kitchen towel and place it in a warm place to rise, for about 30-60 minutes. (I put it in a microwave with a glass of hot water. Don’t turn on the microwave.)
  7. Once the dough is doubled in size, turn it onto a counter, sprinkled with flour. Knead the dough into a smooth ball and divide it into 2 equal balls.
  8. To shape the rolls, roll each dough into 14-inch circles.
  9. Then cut it into 12 equal wedges, as if you’re cutting a pizza.
  10. Roll the triangles into a spiral, not too tight, but not too loose either.
  11. Arrange the rolls on a baking sheet, lined with parchment paper or silicone mat.
  12. Rest for about 20 minutes to rise.
  13. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).
  14. Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes, or until nice and golden.
  15. Transfer the rolls to a wire rack.
  16. Brush on remaining 4 tablespoons of melted butter and cool before serving enjoy .
